Start
Start where you feel safe but still mildly challenged:
Mindfulness
Extends to rocks, trees, things.
In a quiet, open mind
There are no boundaries,
Just whatever comes to mind.
Zazen
Sit in an upright posture, without any gaining notion.
Without trying to get better, get ahead, or achieve something.
Be aware: thoughts, feelings, sensations, all changing.
Return to mindfulness of your changing present moment.
Shikantaza
Return to Zazen's upright posture and concentration
Neither attaching to or pushing away: thoughts, feelings, sensations, changes.
Just resting; boundlessly alive, awake, and aware,
Not fixating on self, not even holding a perception of yourself.
Practice
These meditations are not based on theories, ideals. or faith.
Instead each changes within your practice.
Within each experiment, each experience, each moment
Experimentally, experientially, existentially.
